The PURPOSE OF LIFE

Throughout history, all of humanity has searched for the fundamental purpose of life. This search continues today. Humans try to discover why they are alive and what their purpose might be. Great depression often comes when people are unsure of their purpose and reason to live.

Most of us cannot reconcile that we "just happen" to live on earth independently of Sovereign design. A casual look at nature or space shows us the incredible intricacy and interdependence of all creation.

If we conclude that a Creator had purpose for His creation, then we realize that His purpose in creating humanity reveals the purpose of LIFE as well. Yes, we are alive because God willed it. The Lord God decided that you would be alive today! The purpose of life is directly linked to the purpose for which God planned.

The Bible shows us many clear answers to why we were born. It gives us precise insight as to the INTENTION of God in the beginning.

1. YOU ARE CREATED TO HAVE DOMINION (Gen. 1:26-28).

DOMINION = to cultivate, guard, steward, manage - for the sake of God and of the creation itself.

Humanity is to have 'dominion' (radah) over God's Creation. Our 'radah', IS FOR THE SAKE OF CREATION. We do not have dominion to exercise worldly ambition. We have DOMINION over the earth -- NOT other people.

Jesus regained all DOMINION for us. God never changed his mind! Believers walking in dominion was His intention from the beginning and still is today.

2. YOU ARE CREATED FOR HIS PLEASURE

Rev 4:11 "... for thou hast created all things, and for THY PLEASURE they are and were created."

Ps 149:4, "For the LORD takes pleasure IN HIS PEOPLE; He will beautify the humble with salvation." NKJV

Ps 147:11, "The LORD takes pleasure in those who FEAR HIM, In those who hope in His mercy." NKJV

Heb. 10:38, "But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him."

Eph. 1:7-12, "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence, having made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His good PLEASURE which He purposed in Himself, that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth -- in Him.

It is the pleasure of God for us to LIVE IN HIS PRESENCE.

3. YOU ARE CREATED TO BE A "SON"

We are each full sons. Not a servant, not subjects. Each of us, you and me, were hand-picked for sonship. That's not a gender specific term - men and women are SONS! We're supposed to have the relationship of being SONS.

Sons are the inheritors of the family name (of God). We were specifically designed to exercise power of creation and to manage the earth and its resources. This assignment is the key to our lives and finding fulfillment.

We were never supposed to remain babies and infants -- we are to be full grown sons (huios). Sons are descendants, without reference to gender. Sons have a person relationship with God. We are family and received His DNA. We are made in His image and can obtain His likeness (see my book "Connecting"). Sons enjoy certain privileges (Acts 3:25). Sons manifest a certain character and maintain the dignity of having a relationship with their Father.

The Scripture shows us that God never called us "Christians" - He calls us SONS! They were first call Christians in Antioch, but that wasn't the designation of the Lord. The lack of walking in son-ship has caused humans to set up several thousand different religions. But, it's all about RELATIONSHIP and SONSHIP.

Living in God's INTENTION produces meaningfulness and maximizes the quality of our lives. We realize that we LIVE for destiny purposes. We are gifted in certain ways to accomplish Divine mandates.

We LIVE to have dominion, to bring God pleasure, and to be a SON. Bible scriptures unveil secrets to all our questions concerning life and death. It explains how the times ahead hold for us a precise assignment. Scriptures holds the answers to our questions. The mystery of LIFE is revealed.
