Christian FOCUS - How to set your heart

Just recently, I returned home from vacation in Fairbanks and Anchorage, Alaska! I was also able to go to Palmer and visit my dad and brother. What a great time to go there!!!! The Midnight sun in full splendor and cool fresh air!!!

On night while there, this Scripture literally JUMPED off the page to me"

"SET YOUR MIND NOW ON SONS-- don't dote on father and grandfather. You'll set your sons up as princes all over the earth." (Ps. 45:12 MSG)

The Spirit of the Lord greatly stirred my heart. I immediately began to ask - how do I learn to SET MY MIND on sons? I knew instantly that it was all about FOCUS.

Our FOCUS reveals "what" we believe - and that becomes "where" we aim our life (Matt. 6:21).

What do you need to focus upon? As we focus upon the Lord, all the other issues of of our lives come into FOCUS. What do you need? Relationships? Koininea? Personal finances? Truth? Then the only answer is God in Christ.

"You have stolen my heart... with ONE GLANCE OF YOUR EYES..." "Turn away thine EYES from me, for they have overcome (emboldened, captivated, taken me by storm, and elated) me" (SOS 4:9, 6:5).

Focus Creates A Powerful Force -

As you have the light, believe in the light. Then the light will be within you, and shining through your lives. You'll be children of light." Jesus said all this, and then went into hiding. (Jn. 12:36 MSG)

The writer of the book of Hebrews charged the believers of his day, "Let us FIX our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. Or, (as Paul explained to the Corinthians), "...We FIX our eyes not on what is seen, but on the (TREASURE that is) unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen, is eternal" (2 Corinthians 4:18). The unseen takes precedence over the unseen.

A servant of the Lord, called to be an apostle

The focus of our SINGLE-EYED HEART (our inner-man, our passion, our thoughts, and affections) reveals what we truly love (our treasure).

I remember preaching in an old church that was upstairs on a busy street in the Philippines. It was a very large old building with no paint. The window panes had been gone for a long time and traffic noise outside was hard to ignore. My message was about how Ezra fixed his heart (to be devoted and prepared in single focus). During my (interesting) demonstrations, suddenly there was a deafening car wreck outside. Everyone, and I mean everyone, ran to the windowless openings to look... then they rushed outside and left me standing there alone. Heh- heh! I guess they really did need this lesson on focus!

After about an hour, everyone sheepishly re-entered the building and we started again with our object lesson fully illustrated. Fixing our heart means that we have determined and un-distracted single-eyed focus.

Focused faith releases the spiritual capacity for effectiveness.

All of us find it easy to lose focus from time to time. And, as soon as that happens, we lose our connection and our enthusiasm disappears. A short loss of focus could be a minor setback, but, if we don't recapture focus, we could lose everything. It's a MAJOR priority to Focus! Pay attention (beyond just mental assent) - lock in on what God says and firmly make a decision that from now on, you will SEE it His way.

Webster's Dictionary defines "focus" as "a central point, an attraction, and what has your attention or activity." We know that to focus in the natural, we need to look through the natural eye! In the same way, if we want to see spiritual things we look through the eyes of the Spirit.

The focus of the EYES of our "heart" determines the consequences of our choices.

The focus of the eye points to "what" a person believes - and that becomes "where" he/she aims their life (Matt. 6:21).

• The direction of the focus of our EYES of our faith determines the productive direction of Godly energy (anointing) from us.
• The direction of our focus establishes the reality of our tomorrow (Prov. 23:7) and forms the actuality of our future. Our focus is our reality.
• Wrong focus produces mayhem, silly errors, and serious abuse.

Right focus is single-vision.

Plugging yourself into the ability to focus is like connecting into a POWER SOURCE of light. The more focused your energies, the more force you draw from that source and reproduce it. The POINT of your focus becomes a magnet that pulls you and all your resources toward it. The calculated positioning or "poise" of our soul causes a decisive seismic shift in our lives. We move from trying to make a decision, to doing it. The transfer of productivity is increased by the concentration of our focus!

How you focus = how you perceive reality = how you act = the kind of light you have.

A WORD FOR YOU to PONDER:

Because you have SET YOUR MIND on me, now even the deepest desires of your heart have been refined to reflect My purposes. Because you manifest Me openly, I pour out my pleasure upon you.

You have just stepped into a greater measure of favor - even more than you could conceive possible before. My favor, says the Lord, is rushing to the forefront. Because you have set your mind and heart upon Me, obstacles are pushed aside -- that My Glory may shine forth IN you. Get ready for the full deluge of energy that produces POWER. Expect an increase of power. Expect a greater measure of reach and metron of influence.

BELOVED, God's heart is set toward you.
